Visualizing unhappiness, destroying unhappiness

The subjects of these photos were asked to divulge the thing in their lives that makes them the most unhappy. I constructed pinatas that were shaped to represent these personal fears and the subjects were instructed to take out their rage on the representations. In the act of destruction, the models underwent a cathartic process that allowed them to feel a sense of control of the things that they feared most.
